The City of Burley announced on April 28 a youth essay contest in celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The contest invites young people to submit essays in the form of a letter to a Founding Father, reflecting on themes such as freedom, courage, unity, and progress.
The initiative aims to engage local youth in historical reflection and civic participation. Organizers encourage participants to express their perspectives on foundational American values through original writing.
Entries are divided into two age categories: 12-14 and 15-18. Prizes will be awarded for each category, with $250 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. The deadline for submissions is June 21 at 11:59 p.m.
Participants can enter the contest by visiting the City of Burley’s website at burleyidaho.org or by accessing the submission form directly at https://forms.gle/V2XpyGF5aCtqUTr58.
This contest is part of broader efforts to commemorate significant milestones in American history and encourage community involvement among younger generations.
